Title of Session: A case study in new classroom design - The Advanced Classroom Technologies Lab (ACT Lab)

Abstract:

 

This workshop will demonstrate the capabilities of MTSU’s new Advanced Classroom Technologies Lab (ACT Lab). This classroom / laboratory implements many of the concepts of flexible learning space design while incorporating collaborative and interactive instructional technologies. The room seats sixteen in comfortable, flexible furniture that can be reconfigured for collaborating, lecturing, critiquing, or viewing. The instructional technology tools include the “Thunder Virtual Flipchart System”, four LCD projectors, a projection wall, four plasma screens with laptop connections, instructor/student tablet PCs with wireless access, a “walk/talk” teacher lectern integrated with a VCR, DVD, and visual presenter, and recording equipment for capturing audio and video of classroom activities. The room facilitates an engaging, multi-interactive learning environment.
