Name: Dr. Rubye C. Sanders, Professor
Aud_Level: Beginning Length: 60 minutes Description: The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate how to analyze information and apply graphic design techniques to develop effective Web sites. These techniques apply equally to extranet, intranet, and Web presentations. The World Wide Web is one of the greatest inventions of modern time. That is why individuals and organizations are eager to gain access to it and to make their presence known on it. Why is this being done? Who is affected and Why? Whose efforts are required to develop a successful Web presentation, and what processes are involved in its creation? This presentation will provide the answers to all of these questions. In particular, three criteria of a successful World Wide Web presentation: effectiveness, affectiveness, and navigational efficiency will be discussed. Abstract: This presentation is designed for people who intend to create and implement pages for the World Wide Web. The techniques and methods presented can be applied not only to create an informative, engaging presentation but also to maintain such a presentation. Emphasis will be placed upon four key players involved in the design process: presenters, information stewards, designers, and Web site users. Techniques and methods that lead participants step by step from conception of a project through successful design will be presented.
