Title of Session:  Using the Internet & PowerPoint to Enhance Student Learning

Abstract: This workshop will allow the participants to use PowerPoint and the Internet to integrate technology into the teaching process.  PowerPoint will be demonstrated as an aid for the instructor's presentation and for use with students on self-paced learning experience.

Description: The fundamentals of PowerPoint will be taught during the first third of the workshop.  Building slides, saving files, opening files, adding slides, adding graphics, adding animation buttons (for student self-paced assignments), adding sound, slide layout, and adding animated letters, words, or sentences to enhance the student's readability and comprehension.  During the second third of the session, Netscape or Internet Explorer will be used to find suitable materials for building a lesson plan or report.  In the last third of the workshop, the students and instructors will integrate the materials and technology to create an effective technology-aid lesson plan or report.

Length: 2 Hours

Audience: General and faculty

Audience Level: Beginning to Intermediate

On-Site Equipment: PC Pentium 200 Mhz or larger, zip drive, sound card, view via overhead to large screen, or via S-Video TVs.  PowerPoint 97, Netscape 4.x, and Internet Explorer 4.x loaded on instructor's station and all student stations.
