Description: The presentation will describe the development and implementation of an interactive "paperless" web course (INM3260 Systems Analysis And Design) taught to on campus and off campus students during the winter and summer quarters this year. I will discuss how this course capitalized on the wired infrastructure and ubiquitous notebook computing environment of
this campus, which is the nation's first laptop university. The presentation will also discuss the impact of using the interactive "paperless" approach on student's motivation, learning experience, and achievement. All components of this course are totally online and
paperless: interactive online grade book, online quizzes and exams scored by an interactive self-grading program, online assignments and paperless posting of assignments, online posting of course project, online discussion, online syllabus, and interactive self-learning web
modules. The interactive self-learning web modules, developed in Toolbook, were designed to help students comprehend, visualize, review, synthesize, and troubleshoot certain difficult areas in the course.
The presenter will also demonstrate the use of the course template and the interactive module templates to train other faculty members to develop similar interactive paperless courseware. The presentation will be given in two parts: a live demo of the class through live internet
connection and a presentation of how the templates have been used to train other faculty members.
