Proposal #36

Title: Composition in a CommonSpace: Using Sixth Floor Media's CommonSpace Software in the English Composition Classroom

Name: Carol Swain Lewis, English Department Coordinator

Aud_Level: All

Length: 90 minutes

Abstract: Integrating technology into a traditional English Composition classroom at a rural Southeast Missouri community college might seem to be a daunting task; however, with Sixth Floor Media's CommonSpace Networking
Software, the transition has been beneficial - and relatively painless - for both student and instructor. Using CommonSpace provides instructors with easy access to students' writing on an almost daily basis, gives students the opportunity to conference with instructors more frequently, and helps to build and to maintain the arena of writing to learn that is so desirable in English
composition.
