Title: Technology-based Collaborative Tools: A Primer with Tool Types and Current Examples

Abstract/Description: The presenters will describe useful technology-based collaborative tools and their application to specific teaching. Types include: email, voice mail, threaded discussions, listservs, newgroups, chat, video conferencing, and hybrids. The strengths and weaknesses of each of these types will be discussed. Examples of these tool types will be illustrated with specific classroom applications.

Length: 60 minutes

On-site equipment requirements: Internet connection, projector, PC workstation, and two lavalier microphones
