TEXTS

1 -- Family Violence Across the Lifespan
Ola Barnett, Cindy Miller-Perrin and Robin Perrrin

...arguments are complex. The only truth is that there are 'no simple truths.'

2 -- The Dark Side of Courtship: Physical and Sexual Aggression
Sally Lloyd and Beth Emery

Most people believe aggression will never happen in their relationships. Many people are wrong.

3 -- Understanding Domestic Homicide
Neil Websdale

To paraphrase Nietzsche, as one scrutinizes the abyss, the abyss looks back with an alarming gaze. As we as a society try to make sense of domestic homicide, we cannot escape or deny our relationship with it and our involvement in it. All the more reason to prevent it.

Plus assigned readings distributed in class and on reserve. Additional journals to be reading from include: Journal of Family Issues, Journal of Family Violence, and Violence and Victims.
