Response 5 – due Wednesday, October 19

Drawing from the websites of Amnesty International, the United Nations, or Human Rights watch, identify a country and an act of violence. Without spending a huge amount of time researching this issue, do the following:

1. Identify the country (US is acceptable if you wish)

2. Identify/describe the violence (please do not duplicate acts discussed in assigned articles unless you challenge the arguments or provide much greater detail)

3. Clearly explain the multitude of ways in which this issue is gendered – think in terms of victims and perpetrators, community responses, governmental response, global attention, and so on.

4. Include website addresses used in your response paper.

5. Be prepared to discuss your “research” in class on Wed. In fact we will devote the entire class to your findings and insights.
