COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATIONS

All departments at MTSU are required by the Tennessee Board of Regents to administer comprehensive examinations to exiting Masters' candidates. In the Department of Mathematical Sciences, we have adopted the following policy regarding these examinations.

Comprehensive examinations for both the Master of Science and Master of Science in Teaching will cover the Master of Science Core plus two additional courses to be determined by the student's major advisor. Each of the five exams will be forty-five minutes long with a minimum of fifteen minutes between examinations. In order to graduate, a student must obtain a passing score on at least three of the five exams. An examination over a course may by taken at most twice.
