1.
Each
candidate will take the Self Assessment of Leadership Competencies and prepare
a professional development plan using the MTSU Evaluation Rubric. This professional development plan will be
based on a personal assessment of Leadership Competencies and a meeting with
their instructor. Each candidate will
prepare a list of personal goals to be the basis of this plan.
2.
Each
candidate will interview an instructional leader. Questions for the interview will be discussed
in class but the interview should focus on the philosophy of leadership. Interviews should be either electronic or
narrative in style. Questions should be
included as well as a reflection on the interview.
3.
Candidates
will prepare a response to the leadership skills based on the Leadership
Continuum presented in class. Each skill
will be based on the candidates assessment of how well they currently use each
skill. Other skills may be included from
class discussion.
4.
Candidates
will prepare a list of Professional Development Activities planned for Spring
Semester 2011.
Grading
Scale:
A
- 92-100 Completion of all
requirements in a thorough, thoughtful, and timely manner. Careful preparation of the
Professional Development program.
Active class participation.
B
85 - 91 Completion of all
requirements in a manner that represents a less substantive effort - in other
words more than just going through the motions.
Professional Development program less well defined. Active class participation. B+ at 90-91, B- at 82-83.
C - <84 Completion of all requirements.
Class
participation, going through the assignments without a thoughtful approach to
assignments C+ and C- as above.
D - <76 Completion of all requirements at the
most minimal level.
All parts of the application process for
full Admission to the Leadership Academy must be completed to register for the
Spring Semester.
