This specialization is to allow students to pursue licensure requirements in secondary education
while pursuing a Masters degree. This program is designed to replace the undergraduate

Interim Licenses (A,B and E) and those pursuing initial licensure in secondary education are
eligible for this program. Students in this program must meet all requirements in the major area,
any undergraduate requirements, and all Education courses to obtain a teaching license. In
addition to any academic courses needed, students must meet requirements for admission to the
MTSU teacher Education Program and take all parts of the Praxis II (NTE) exams required for
licensure.. Students wishing to enter this program must consult the MTSU licensure analyst for
an evaluation of their undergraduate work. The program is 33-39 hours depending on student’s
