Hi,
not about to get into an extended defense of Wu style which i've practiced for many years, but did you ever look at old photos of the yang family doing forms and applications? Their torso has a distinct lean to it. as far as i know, it is the CMC variant of yang style which has (over?) emphasized the upright torso. Wu style martial training involves hitting, locking , uprooting and neutralizing techniques, just as the other styles do. What i believe is important is the quality of your teacher, not what style he teaches. If one particular style grabs you more than another, then go for it, but running down other styles justs limits your understanding.
