To qualify for the MTSU McNair Scholars Program, a student must:

• Be a first-generation college student, parents/guardians did not complete a baccalaureate degree) and qualify as low-income (as determined by Federal guidelines). For more information visit

• Be a member of a group underrepresented in graduate education
• Intend to pursue a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) after graduation
  (This does not include professional degrees such as Law (JD), Medicine (MD), Veterinary Medicine (DVM), and Pharmacy (PharmD))
• Have completed at least 60 college credits
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
• Be a US Citizen or permanent resident
• Be enrolled in a degree program at MTSU or planning to transfer to MTSU to participate
