Mission and Goals
- The mission of the Center is to enhance the quality of mathematics, science, and technology education, at all levels, in Tennessee.
- In order to achieve the mission, all Center activities are directed at five major goals:
- Provide quality staff development for teachers of mathematics and science, particularly in the effective use of technology in teaching and learning.
- Participate in the development of undergraduate and graduate programs of mathematics and science education programs.
- Influence State policies related to mathematics, science and technology education.
- Develop strong partnerships with other stakeholders in education (business, industry, funding agencies, K-12 school systems, higher education, Department of Education, and the legislature).
- Establish a Mathematics and Science Education Research Group to conduct scholarly inquiry on the teaching and learning of mathematics and science.
