  • Health Care Informatics Coordinator
Pamela Taylor ( Columbia Pacific University)

Pam Taylor is currently an Associate Professor of Nursing and holds dual informatics certification credentials from the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS). She holds an undergraduate degree in Nursing, graduate degrees in Education and Nursing Administration/Informatics (University of Tennessee at Chattanooga), and in Nursing Administration (Columbia Pacific University).

Her love of technology and informatics is rooted in a rich nursing career.  Highlights of her experiences include critical care and emergency patient care delivery, various middle and senior leadership roles, and CEO of her long-standing consulting practice.  Her commitment to teaching/learning and sharing her passion for nursing has included continuous adjunct or full-time faculty roles since 1990, as well as formal and informal industry educational roles throughout her career.

Pam Taylor’s informatics experiences began in the late-80’s through the design and development of an educational tracing database and working with an early Meditech order entry implementation project.  With the explosion of computer technology, the integration of this technology into the healthcare environment became a primary responsibility through her role as Director of Education for a large metropolitan hospital.  In the mid-90’s, the Internet explosion pushed her to explore teaching online for both the academic and service sectors.  Through her role as Director of Distance Learning, she had the opportunity to lead a college into the 21st century and tap the power of on-demand, online education that promotes the lifelong learning needed in the healthcare professions.  In 2002 she left the full time academic setting to again pursue informatics in the healthcare setting where she worked to implement electronic medical records and other information systems in a variety of healthcare settings, as well as other technologies related to patient visibility, asset tracking using RFID and ultrasound, and intranet deployment of employee resources.

Returning full time to the academic setting in 2007, Ms. Taylor is currently actively pursuing her three professional passions: online teaching/learning, promoting informatics skills for healthcare professionals, and the integration of information technology to improve patient care delivery.  A tireless advocate for healthcare informatics, she continues her clinical informatics practice by providing consulting services to a variety of organizations across the United States for the development and implementation of healthcare information and online educational systems.
