Non-MTSU affiliated programs
We trust that nearly all MTSU students can find an appropriate education abroad program through the extensive list of options above. However, we recognize that some individuals may wish to study very particular topics, need special services, or have other compelling reasons to study in a city, country, or at a university with which MTSU has no pre-approved option.
Before petitioning for approval of any program not affiliated with MTSU:
Students interested in studying abroad should attend an Education Abroad Info Session (offered once a month) and/or participate in an advising session in the Office of Education Abroad.
What is a non-MTSU affiliated program?
This includes any program that does not appear on the MTSU menu of direct partner, consortium, or affiliated provider options. (Affiliated programs include: MTSU Fac-Led, MTSU Exchange, KIIS, TNCIS, CCSA, USAC, ISA, AmidEast, GlobaLInks {includes AustraLearn, AsiaLearn, and EuroLearn}, and Learning Abroad Center University of Minnesota).
How does one apply for approval to participate on a non-MTSU affiliated education abroad program?
In order for the Office of Education Abroad to consider endorsement of a non-MTSU affiliated program, students must supply the details and documentation requested on the Non-MTSU Affiliated Program Petition Form, available upon request to educationabroad@mtsu.edu. This form is due several months before the program begins, so keep this in mind when considering your options.
We urge students considering non-MTSU affiliated programs to first attend an advising session with the Office of Education Abroad to explore options before proceeding with the petition or application process.
