Summer 07 - Localization of novel rheumatoid arthritis factors in joint tissue

I am currently looking for a student to assist in a project that involves determining the localization of several novel factors we believe to be involved in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis.  The project will likely involve staining joint tissue sections obtained from fixed specimens mounted in paraffin with antibodies, and examination of the slides by confocal microscopy.  The scope of this project may be expanded to other autoimmune disorders and cancers if feasible and if tissues are available.  There is also the possibility of examining mRNA transcripts for these various factors by in situ hybridization if the need arises.

Requirements include completion of at Cellular and Molecular Biology and either Histology or Anatomy & Physiology I and II.  I would prefer a student who has taken all three of these courses, but it is not a requirement.
