Crystal Briley
Adjunct Professor of Voice
A Tennessee native, Briley is a graduate of Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. As an emerging lyric-coloratura, Crystal has performed with Alabama Operaworks, Samford University Opera Theater, Roosevelt University Opera Theater, and Chicago’s Millennium Chamber Players. Her 2006 professional opera debut came under the artistic direction of John Hoomes with the Nashville Opera as the High Priestess in Verdi’s Aida. Crystal also was chosen to be part of the Nashville Opera Mary Ragland Young Artist Program in 2007 where she toured to different schools playing the role of the Queen in The Emperor’s New Clothes. Other roles performed include Cathleen in Vaughan Williams’ Riders to the Sea, Mother in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Madame Goldentrill in Mozart’s The Impresario.
Crystal’s distinguished awards include 2nd place winner in the Birmingham Music Club Scholarship Competition 2001, 1st place winner Women’s Division in the Alabama Federation of Music Clubs Scholarship Competition 2003, and the 2003 North Alabama District winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
Her interests also include the study of vocal pedagogy, teaching voice, and any kind of arts and crafts. You can also find Crystal teaching at the Brentwood Baptist Worshipping Arts Center in Brentwood, TN.
