Jazz Festival Registration Form

Dear Colleagues:

The MTSU School of Music is hosting the MTSU Jazz Festival on Saturday, April 4, 2009. This annual event brings together outstanding jazz artists, jazz educators, students, and jazz lovers for a full day of performances and educational activities. We invite your school to participate in this non-competitive festival that will be highlighted by a clinic and concert by world renowned trumpeter Terell Stafford.

School groups will be given 30 minutes for their performance followed by a “one-on-one” 30 minute workshop by one of our visiting clinicians designed to help the students expand and improve their jazz skills. Each group will receive audio taped comments from two clinicians and a video tape of their performance. Our clinicians this year include Don Aliquo & Jamey Simmons from MTSU and Tom Giampietro (Vanderbilt University & MTSU.) In addition to the 1:00 pm clinic by Terell Stafford, Director of Jazz Studies Don Aliquo and Professor of Jazz Studies Jamey Simmons will conduct a "hands-on" workshop on Jazz Improvisation. We encourage all students to take advantage of this great opportunity.

The festival will begin at 9:00 am with performances by high school and junior high jazz ensembles running at thirty minute intervals throughout the day. The evening concert, featuring Terell Stafford with the MTSU Jazz Ensemble I, is scheduled for 7:30 pm.

The registration fee for the festival is $150 per ensemble which includes tickets to the evening performance for all students in the group and the director. These tickets would otherwise cost $12.00 per person. If you are interested in participating in the MTSU Jazz Festival, please call (615) 904-8362 or e-mail: daliquo@mtsu.edu by March 2nd to reserve a space for your group. Also notice the registration form above. Please feel free to phone me if you have any further questions or visit our web-site: http://www.mtsumusic.com
