Middle Tennessee State University Top Gun Classic Volleyball Tournament - February 27, 1999 Middle Tennessee State University will hold the 8th annual "Top Gun Classic" volleyball tournament on February 27th, 1999. The entry fee is $100 per team, payable to MTSU Men's Volleyball Club. Semi-finalists will receive Semi-finalists T-shirts, and a trophy or plaque. Finalists will receive Finalists T-shirts, a trophy or plaque, and $100. Champions will receive Champion T-shirts, a trophy, and $250. The tournament is open to all teams, collegiate and USAV. However, PRIORITY will be reserved for all SSCVL collegiate teams until Feb. 1. At that date, if the tournament is not full, we will accept entries from any USAV team that wishes to play. Collegiate entry fees and registration forms MUST BE RECEIVED by FEB. 1, 1999 in order to officially reserve a spot in a pool. Clubs may TENTATIVELY reserve a spot via Email until February 1st. The tournament format will allow for 4 pools of 4 teams, each match being 2 games to 11. The top team in each pool gets an automatic bye to the quarter-finals, while the 2nd and 3rd place teams in each pool will cross-pool each other for a chance to advance to the quarter-finals. (Ex. 2nd place pool A plays 3rd place pool D for a chance to play 1st place pool B in Quarters) I know it sounds a bit confusing, but I've got it mapped out already. The Rec Center opens at 9:00am, therefore the Captain's meeting will be at 9:15. Play will begin promptly at 9:30. The tournament should last until around 6:30 for the Finals, (if everything runs smoothly).
