Committees & Chairs

Membership Committee
Chairperson: Lauren Taylor
This committee is composed of members who organize and conduct new member campaigns. This committee is in charge of our Membership Drives and getting the name of the NAACP out to the students at MTSU, to enhance membership.

Health Committee
Chairperson: Tassany Wood
The health committee shall promote, protect and address the health needs of African Americans and poor communities; increase access to specific health needs of the community; Advocate for equal access to health education, treatment, care and research for all Americans.

Freedom Funds
Chairperson: Leighandriah Oden
The freedom Funds committee raises funds in your branch that supports the NAACP work all over the nation. This Committee is responsible for planning all fundraising events.

Education Committee
Chairperson: Lemon Keith
Education committee’s focus is to promote the rights of all children to equal education opportunities. The committee’s job is to eliminate segregation and other discriminatory practices in public education; study local educational conditions affecting minority groups; investigate the public school system and school zoning and boundaries; promote and stimulate school attendance; and be an advocate for equitable schools and classrooms and address all inequities.

Press and Publicity
Chairperson: Veronica Carpenter
The committee works with in concert with the branch President and seeks to effectively utilize all media and other communications outlets to disseminate and define NAACP to the community.

Political Action
Chairperson: Rinaud Matthews
This committee seeks to address and protect the political interest of African Americans, poor, disenfranchised, and other minority groups.
