In
the past the MTSU Collegiate Chapter of the NAACP has hosted a
number of events:
Search
Your Heart
This was headed up by the Health Committee. The Search
Your Heart is apart of the “ The Respect Your Health”
campaign,. This program is designed to encourage students to make
better lifestyle choices concerning nutrition and to increase
their daily physical activity.
Membership
Drives
Membership drive and voter registration is used to encourage membership.
Every organization needs members to survive and we would also
like to encourage people to register to vote.
Unity
Night/Mixer
This event was co-sponsored with the MTSU Multicultural Affairs
Office. It included a motivational speaker, James Amps, who spoke
on Personal Accountability & the Challenges of Life.
Interracial
Dating Forum
This forum was about interracial relationships with a guest speaker,
Joyce Williams, who spoke about the history of different racial
groups as well as the role media plays in the depiction of racial
relationships. Students/guests had the opportunity to voice their
stance on interracial dating and the issues that surround this
controversial topic.
