To educate students at Middle Tennessee State University where I can communicate my passion for the music industry and recording technology.

PROFESSIONAL

MTSU                                                Assistant To the Chair, Studio Coordinator

á      Produced over three dozen creative audio and video projects in the last year. Projects ranged from Rock, Pop, CCM, and the MTSU Singers, to 3 Music videos of artist Jon Fishell, and tracking sessions for BMG/Provident Music Group at the Sound Kitchen.

á      Active on BS/MBA, MFA, Major Field Test Update, Record Label, and Spring Forum committees. In addition I currently chair the Technical Facilities committee.

á      Received ITD release time grant for Spring 04 to develop library of online Reusable Learning Objects. Presented at 2004 Instructional Technologies Conference, the MTSU Instructional Technology ShareFair and the 2004 Scholars Day conference.

á      In cooperation with other educators, produced nearly two dozen online instructional videos for the RIM department, along with online modules and quizzes.

á      Have recorded and/or mixed projects in all campus studios.

á      Worked with campus organizations to bring in numerous industry professionals for campus presentations, conferences and panel discussions. Guests included legendary  drummer Chester Thompson, and Multi-platinum engineer/producers Steve Albini, Dave Aron, Bob Bullock, Victor Caldwell, George Massenburg, Michael Wagner, and others.

á      Received MTSU 2004 Outstanding Achievement in Instructional Technology Award.

á      Nominated for the Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Technology.

á      Coordinating and scheduled to moderate a panel discussion on the future of Music and Technology for the Gospel Music Association conference during GMA week. WeÕll be discussing and evaluating numerous young technologies for the distribution of recordings (i.e. Legal downloads, Kiosks, live performance recording and sales, Satellite radio, etc.).

á      Coordinated and scheduled studio time for all campus studios, labs, and edit suites for all upper division studio courses.

á      Advising and coordinating weekly meetings with AES student leaders and other RIM faculty. This semester we have already held a bi-annual studio cleanup, hosted guest speakers John Wheeler of Hayseed Dixie, and a representative from audio software manufacturers IK Multimedia. 

á      Acted as a pro audio consultant for nearly two dozen current and former students, faculty, and industry professionals in the setup and equipping of their home recording studios.

á      Currently co-coordinating the Live on Main Street weekly music event along with Hal Newman and Amy Macy.

 

Labette Community College                                  Head of Music Industry Dept

á      Successfully developed and taught 17 credit hours per semester. Courses authored include Audio Recording (1&2), Digital Audio (1&2), Audio for Video, MIDI Production, Digital Video Production, Music Business 2, Performance Ensembles (1-4), Thesis Projects, and Music Industry Internships.

á      Expanded the Commercial Music Industry program from a half-room 8 Track ADAT studio into a 4 room, 32 track facility with 2 control rooms, G3 MIDI lab, and G4 Pro tools/Final Cut Pro digital audio/video production suites.

á      Prepared grant proposals resulting in over $30,000 worth of grants to the CM program.

á      Directed and produced an hour long instructional video for top Nashville vocal coach Brett Manning.

á      Advised 25-30 students per semester with class scheduling and career planning.

á      Redesigned recording studio for NSAI board member Mike Brandon, and upgraded other area studios to Pro Tools, Digital Performer, and other DAW systems.

á      Created, promoted and hosted live sound courses for church sound engineers.

á      Developed and launched a website promoting the program, with areas for students to apply and gain information, as well as contests for free recording time to attract student involvement and interest.

á      Organized the CM Advisory Board from area professionals involved in live sound & promotion, studio engineering, music technology retail & sound design.

 

Sweetwater Sound Inc.                                            Sales Engineer (SE)            

á      Successfully managed database of three thousand clients, personally generating over $154,000 in sales in my first 3 months (more than triple the sales of any other starting sales engineer).

á      Consulted with professional and amateur clients on the processes of equipping, upgrading and operating a professional recording facility.

á      Worked with a team in equipping and/or upgrading studios for national recording artists including Kid Rock, the Insane Clowne Posse, Semisonic, Dennis Jernigan, and others.

á      Participated in 8-10 hours of training in current music technologies per week.

á      Completed all necessary training to receive Pro Tools level 3 certification.

á      Produced multiple CD projects with area artists in commercial facilities and project studios.

 

Pittsburg State University                                       Graduate Support Technician       

á      Acted as the primary computer tech for the Business department, resolving issues and educating instructors on the implementation and use of technology in their teaching strategies.

á      Streamlined grading and research systems, making grading and meeting deadlines more efficient for instructors.

á      Researched, categorized and analyzed data regarding class sizes, grades and student abilities.

á      Traveled to Taiwan, Korea, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia to study group communication, adult learning techniques, and worldwide cultural and business practices.

 

Synergistic Systems Inc.                                         Customer Support Technician

á      Provided customer service and technical support to middle and high school instructors for our proprietary, computer based educational hardware and software systems.

á      Installed PC/LAN based Audio/Video/Robotics labs in schools all over the country.

á      Generated orders, tracked shipments, arranged and organized necessary returns, and provided 100% satisfaction for all of our clients with both existing and new educational labs.

á      Described by my superiors as having Òthe patience of JobÓ (the biblical character).

 

SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS

á      Student focused, single-minded, self motivated and extremely hard working.

á      I make myself widely available to my students and have spent hours helping in student sessions, as well as hosting study sessions at my home.

á      Extensive public speaking experience. Interviewed live via satellite on MSNBC Tonight with Deborah Norville. Provided a demonstration on the creation and use of backing tracks for a live performance.

á      Work best in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment with a team of like minded individuals.

á      Learn quickly and easily adapt to new situations and circumstances.

á      Can educate about and explain technology in a way that anyone can understand.

á      Play Guitar, Bass, Keys, and DrumsÉand started learning the Dulcimer at this years Hoedown!

á      Experienced recording and live sound engineer. I have mixed for all types and sizes of venues and audiences.
