May 8, 2003

Dear Sexual Worlds, Political Cultures Conference Participants:

As the conference date (October 2 — October 5, 2003) approaches, we have some logistical updates.

1) For those of you who are presenting papers at the conference, your papers are due August 15. It is important that you respect this deadline. Please email your paper as a Microsoft Word document to phollowa@mtsu.edu. We will distribute the papers to all conference participants by September 1, 2003, so you all have plenty of time to read them before October.

2) Suggested page length for the written papers is 15-35 pages, but we also want you to be able to use this workshop to present work in a format this is useful to you. So if that means you need to submit something that is somewhat shorter or longer than the suggested page length, then that will be acceptable.

3) The conference will be held at the Social Science Research Council’s conference room in Washington D.C. (a few blocks North of Dupont Circle). The hotel for the conference, the Jury’s Normandy Inn, is a few blocks away at Wyoming and Connecticut. The rate for the room is $110/ night. We have put a number of rooms on hold and you can reserve one by contacting the hotel at 1-800-423-6953. When you make your reservation, please identify yourself as part of the "Sexual Worlds, Political Cultures" conference. You must make your reservation by September 2, 2003. (After that point we lose the rooms.)

4) We will send out a tentative program in June. If you have title changes before that time, please send them to us. Also please let us know if your email address or mailing address changes in the coming months.

5) As we plan food for this event, it would be helpful to know how many of you are vegetarian. If you do not eat meat, please email this information to Margot.

6) A copy of this letter and a list of participants is also available on-line at http://www.mtsu.edu/~phollowa/conf.html. We will continue to post conference information on this site.

We can be reached by email at Margot.Canaday-2@tc.umn.edu and/or phollowa@mtsu.edu.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with questions, and we will be in touch with more information during the summer months.

Sincerely,

Margot Canaday & Pippa Holloway
