for Students
Academic Support Center: The Academic Support Center (ASC) provides academic advising services for MTSU students with undeclared majors and students with courses in the Academic Enrichment program. In addition, the Center also coordinates learning communities, the community reading program, the Raider Book Club, and other academic initiatives. Bookstore: The Bookstore’s regular spring hours are Monday – Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Bookstore refund policy on
textbooks for summer term:
1. A sales receipt is required for textbook refunds.
2. Refunds on purchases for the summer term are indicated below:
Part of Term S1-May– by the end of the second day of class
Part of Term S2-June and S3-July– one calendar week from the first day
of class
Part of Term 1-Full Term - two calendar weeks from the first day of class

2. The last day to receive a full refund for textbooks purchased for the Fall
Semester is the second Friday of the term (i.e., Fall 2007: Friday, September
7, 2007).

Career Development Center: Seniors and graduate students should establish permanent files with the Career Development Center prior to graduation. Students seeking part-time employment should apply at the Center. Information and application forms are available in Keathley University Center 328. The Career Development Center is a comprehensive Center serving all departments and colleges of MTSU. The Center services include five programs: Career Exploration, Student Employment, University Internship, Cooperative Education, and Campus Recruiting Programs. http://career.web.mtsu.edu/
Counseling Services: Counseling Services, Keathley University Center 329, offers students personal counseling. There is no charge for services. The Testing Center, Keathley University Center 327, administers tests. Students can sign up to take a CLEP test, the ACT Residual (not valid for lottery eligibility), and graduate tests such as the GRE and MAT. The LSAT is also given, along with tests under the National Teacher Exams (NTE) program.
Graduate Students: Admission/Readmission--refer to the College of Graduate Studies website for complete information for graduate students www.mtsu.edu/graduate Students must complete a graduate application and be admitted to graduate studies prior to registration for courses. (For application deadline dates refer to the College of Graduate Studies website www.mtsu.edu/graduate.) Students may be allowed to register for one (1) semester of classes while completing application requirements and full admission into program. Registration will not be allowed for the subsequent semester if you have not been admitted to a graduate program. (See the College of Graduate Studies website for program requirements.) Students that have not attended consecutive terms (excluding summer) must complete a readmission application and be readmitted into graduate studies and their respective program.
Graduate Assistantships: Students receiving graduate assistantships must register for at least six (6) graduate credit hours applying to their program. Students failing to meet the Cumulative GPA requirement each semester (3.000 for masters and Educational Specialist level or 3.250 for doctoral level) will not be eligible for an assistantship the subsequent semester resulting in the termination of their contract.
Graduate Students Thesis/Dissertation Requirements: Student enrolled in Thesis Research (6640) or Dissertation Research (7640) must register for at least one (1) credit hour each semester until the thesis/dissertation is complete.
Graduate Students Degree Plan: A degree plan must be filed and approved by the College of Graduate Studies prior to 21 credit hours for masters and Educational Specialist or 30 credit hours for doctoral (NOTE: Some programs require approval earlier than 21/30 credit hours. Check the College of Graduate Studies website for your program's requirements)
Graduate Students –Graduation: Intent to Graduate forms must be filed by deadlines listed each semester. Intents received after deadline may not be processed until the subsequent semester. ALL requirements for degrees must be met by the Friday prior to graduation. This includes incomplete grades, transfer credit from other universities (where applicable) and thesis/dissertation approvals.
Information Technology Help Desk: The Information Technology Help Desk is staffed 24 hours a day when school is in session (except University holidays) by experienced personnel who can answer hardware, software, and other computing questions. Study Abroad: Students interested in taking course through MTSU faculty-led programs CCSA, KIIS, ISEP, UMAP, or any of the bilateral exchange programs offered through MTSU should contact the director of Study Abroad at 898-5179 or visit www.mtsu.edu/~mtabroad/
Transfer Students: After the transfer student has received the official acceptance letter to the MTSU, a following email with the access information to the Transfer Student Advising and Registration Process will be sent to the student's MTSU email. The Transfer Student Advising and Registration Process consist of an online orientation “Transfer Orientation Online” and an academic advising appointment. Transfer Orientation Online is a brief web-based orientation and entry to college advising appointment system.
