The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) will provide additional competitive funding through federal and state channels over the next two years.
The Office of Research encourages you to take advantage of these opportunities, which are likely to have a higher success rate than proposals have had in the past decade.
The links in the ARRA summary document lead to specific federal programs that have an influx of stimulus money and ARRA healthcare workforce programs and stimulus-funded grants at NSF http://www.nsf.gov/recovery/. All grants and guidelines are listed on grants.gov or fedconnect.net.
Please contact your pre-award representative in Office of Research Services (898-5005) or Dr. Andrienne Friedli (494-7669) for help finding a match with your interests, arranging a group effort to strategize about the best approach to a winning proposal, or help navigating the system.
Tennessee will distribute a total of $4.5 billion over the next two years. Part of this is the $775 million for fiscal stabilization of education that you have heard so much about in the news. The remainder is distributed among state agencies for specific projects. We may be able to work with these agencies to help them accomplish their objectives.
If you have contacts at the state level, your best bet may be to negotiate funding for established or new projects with them. The following is a combined list of state stimulus funding from several sources. If you do not have a specific contact, the Special Assistant to the Governor for Recovery Act Administration is Joe Werner: joe.werner@tn.gov, 615-741-9664.
