Rhomeo History |
|
The Fraternal Order of Classy Gentlemen was founded by six young men on
March 24, 1980, on the campus of Prairie View A&M University in Prairie
View, TX. These men sought not only to offer services to their community
but also to extend the right hand of brotherhood to all undergraduate
students. Our six founders, who are known as "The Elites,"
aspired to bring forth a new fraternity from amongst their current
choices based on the ideals of dedication, responsibility and
scholarship.
The Alpha Upsilon chapter of Sigma Rhomeo was established on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University on March 14, 1997 by Justin L Harris and Tyson Levar Cannon. These two ambitious men were successfully inducted into this sacred and noble brotherhood by the Lambda Upsilon chapter of Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma. The fundamental purpose of the Alpha Upsilon chapter of the Fraternal Order of Classy Gentlemen, Sigma Rhomeo is to promote unity in all mankind through the channels of leadership, social service and the indestructible bond of brotherhood.
Today there are close to 30 chapters of
Classy
Gentlemen, who are also known as "Rhomeos," and more chapters are being
established each year. The social function of our organization provides a
variety of situations in order to prepare its members for social awareness
and maturity, which in return provides the vehicle whereby lasting
friendships
are built through fraternity life. Together, "We strive today for
tomorrow's success."
