The following lists frequently have benefits related issues raised within the broader framework of their dedicated areas of interest. A few comments are offered from my experience as a subscriber to these lists. HRNET (Human Resources Network) listserv@cornell.edu subscribe HRNET your name HRNET is a very large list (over 1000 subscribers) and covers a wide variety of practitioner and academic topics. From cross-postings by recognizable names I believe several BENEFITS-L subscribers also subscribe to HRNET. HRIS-L (Human Resource Information Systems) listserv@vm.ucs.ualberta.ca subscribe HRIS-L your name As the list name implies HRIS-L addresses the information management aspect of HR, of which benefits is obviously an important component. Of particular interest might be the frequent discussion and inquiry about software packages. PAYHR-L (Payroll and Human Resources in Higher Education) listserv@vm1.ucc.okstate.edu subscribe PAYHR-L your name For very down to earth problem solving and practitioner oriented information and discussion I find this list excellent. It deals with the full range of issues in the day-to-day HR, Benefits, and Payroll problems. Though it is specific to higher education, good benefits related insights can be had from a professional practitioner perspective. One caution is that a subscriber should be well versed in nuts and bolts knowledge within the scope of the list topics. HEALTHMGMT (Health Management) listserver@ursus.jun.alaska.edu subscribe HEALTHMGMT your name Addresses the full range of cost, quality, etc... This list used to be housed at the University of Minnesota, and as far as I can tell nearly all gopher and WWW references still show Minnesota as the reference point. This list has spawned additional related lists.
