The Department of RadioTelevision/Photography, as an administrative unit within the College of Mass Communication, is pedagogically prepared to deliver this Concentration. This Concentration will provide students with global awareness of new media from societal, political, and economic perspectives; will allow experiences in media design and content creation; will  foster aesthetic discrimination; and will empower the student with employable skills across many New Media areas.

This Concentration is another choice within the Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication and the Department of Radio Television/Photography. The College of Business and the Departments of Art and Computer Science are cooperating in the creation of this Concentration.

The rationale for this Concentration is clear, as the use of Digital Media is expanding in the areas of information, entertainment, and education. We must be able to provide study and instruction in the uses of digital media forms and in their construction and design, and we must be able to research and educate ourselves and our students not only on the development of new media tools but also upon their impact on audiences.
