Digital Animation Lab
Facilities




The Digital Animation Lab at M.T.S.U. is equipped with Silicon Graphics Octane and Origin 200 computers. We are currently using Alias/Wavefront's Maya and Composer.

We also have installed NT machines from Intergraph, that are loaded with Lightwave, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere.
Output of work can be recorded to a DiskCovery Digital Disk Recorders and then to VHS, S-VHS, Hi8mm, Beta SP, or DVCAM.

In addition, the lab has various models of Macintosh computers using Adobe Photoshop, Pagemaker, Premiere, HyperCard, and other software.

Additional hardware includes; Video Digitizer, Color Flatbed and Film scanners, and Polaroid Film Recorder.

All of the computers are networked locally, to the Department of Recording Industry's Midi Lab, the campus backbone, and to the Internet.

Above are pictured some of the related facilites that are available to students. These include, beginning clockwise top left; The Central Machine Room, which contains the Abekas A66 Digital Disk Recorder and various formats of tape decks. Next is the Post Production Facility, which contains a digital audio workstation, and various equipment from Abekas, Grass Valley, Pinnacle, and Dubner. The picture on the bottom right is one of our Television Studios where student programming is produced daily. In the lower left is the Studio Control Room. The picture in the middle is the Mobile Production Lab.

Also available are Avid's Media Composer, Pro Tools Digital Audio Workstation, and an Electronic Newsroom.
