Ride With a Pro
Students enrolled in Personal Selling at MTSU are required to spend a day with a professional salesperson in the field to gain exposure to real world selling experiences. They are encouraged to select a salesperson in an industry of particular interest, especially one in which they would like to work after graduation. Following the day's activities, students are required to present an oral summary to the class; this allows other students to gain exposure to a variety of professional sales career options.

Sales Scholarships
Students interested in sales have a number of opportunities to apply or compete for sales scholarships and awards.

Be a Sales Mentor
Each student in the Advanced Selling course establishes a mentor relationship with a sales professional during the semester. Mentors are asked to critique their student’s resume, provide career path information, and share their insight regarding the professional sales field. In addition, mentors are invited to participate in group activities with other mentors and students such as a class golf outing and a professional dining etiquette dinner.

Participate in Ride With a Pro
Your role as a sales professional in the "Ride with a Pro" program is to allow the student to observe a typical day on the job--including sales calls, sales call preparation, paperwork, phone calls, meetings, etc. Students may have questions about selling methods, your sales experiences, your industry, and academic preparation necessary for a career in your field. Sharing your expertise, advice, and candid responses to the students' questions provides them with an invaluable educational experience to complement their classroom activities.

Sales Scholarships
Organizations sponsoring a scholarship have the option to help determine the award criteria as well as help judge the applicants.

Classrooms in the new Business & Aerospace Building at MTSU are fully equipped with multimedia capabilities and provide a wonderful, comfortable environment for speaking to students.

Offer a Sales Internship
A structured internship program is available for students interested in receiving college credit for a one semester, part-time work experience in the fields of marketing or management.

Internships are a win-win program for all involved -- the student gains practical experience while the employer gains an eager employee and the opportunity to "interview" a prospective full-time employee for an entire semester. MTSU and the Management & Marketing Department are pleased to provide an additional avenue for interaction between our students and the Middle Tennessee business community.
