Thank
You (Part II)
by Alisha Venters
I
lie here, in my bed,
Alone,
Wishing I were with you,
Planning how to seduce you.
I
am, right now,
Everything I see myself as
And Everything
Everyone else sees in me.
I am couched on my pillows
In an old t-shirt and flannel pajama pants.
I see myself as a lonely fat girl
With frizzy hair, dry skin,
And a face half-obscured by glasses.
Plain.
Ordinary.
Almost ugly in my shameful mediocrity.
I
can't wait to be with you again.
Then I get to be what you see me as.
I get to be curvy, voluptuous,
Sexy temptress
With raven curls and doe's eyes.
With you, I can be a goddess.
With you, I can feel beautiful.
For the first time in my life,
I can be bold.
I can demand attention,
Rather than be grateful
For the cast-offs of the pretty girls.
With
you,
I am a woman.
