I. SUMMARY:

Dr. Foroudastan is the Associate Dean for the College of Basic and Applied Sciences and the Director of the Master of Science in Professional Science (MSPS) graduate program. He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering, his M.S. in Civil Engineering, and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University.  Additionally, he has six years of industrial experience as a Senior Engineer and fifteen years of academic experience as a Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and Instructor.
 
As Associate Dean, Dr. Foroudastan works collaboratively with the Dean on tasks and represents the Dean and the College in the Dean's absence. He is responsible for administration processes such as workloads, budgeting, and hiring, worked on Tenure-Track, Tenure, and promotion recommendations as well as addressing faculty and student concerns and curriculum issues. He provides leadership and assists with the management of budgets, personnel and programs for the ten departments within the college, which houses over 6,000 majors and 220 full-time faculty. He is the initiator of the most successful graduate program at MTSU, growing from two to over sixty students in five years. As Director for the MSPS program, Dr. Foroudastan oversees administration details for all concentrations and actively recruits and mentors for the program.

His industrial experience focused on the areas of manufacturing, research and development, design and analysis, metal forming, material characterization, mathematical modeling and simulation, and management of engineering projects. He has also achieved U.S. and European patents and published technical papers throughout his industrial career.

His academic experience includes teaching in the area of engineering technology, safety, environmental science and technology, civil and mechanical engineering, and computer science. Furthermore, he has performed extensive externally funded research, instructed several laboratories, and published technical papers. In addition to this, he reviews papers for journals and conference proceedings and has been a session moderator for several professional conferences.  He has served on committees at the department, college, and university levels.  He is the faculty advisor, coordinator, and primary fundraiser for the Experimental Vehicle Program which enters national competitions for its Solar Boat, Solar Vehicle, Moonbuggy, Formula One, and Mini Baja vehicles.
 
For his concern and dedication to students, Dr. Foroudastan received the Outstanding Teaching Award and Outstanding Public Service Award from Middle Tennessee State University, as well as the Excellence in Engineering Education award from SAE. Dr. Foroudastan was nominated for Outstanding Research Award and Public Service Award. He currently holds full membership in the MTSU Graduate Faculty and serves as a graduate faculty advisor.  He has served as the faculty advisor for Mechanical Engineering Technology, Pre-engineering, ASME, SAE, and Tau Alpha Pi Honors Society, and he is a member of several honors societies.

III. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
