Course
Description and Objectives:
The course will provide
an exploration of the theory and practice of peer tutoring and will provide
training in the knowledge and fundamental skills useful to tutors in various
academic disciplines. Through readings, lectures, class discussions,
group work, and activities, students will be introduced to the academic
and personal skills that characterize effective tutors. The course will
provide an introduction to contemporary learning theories and learning
enhancement techniques and will assist students in developing appropriate
applications to individual and group learning situations.
Requirements:
- Attendance and participation
is required.
- Students are required
to keep a tutoring journal to turn in (or email) each week.
- Students are required
to make at least 2 posts per week to the discussion board.
- Read and keep up with
text(s) and articles given and be prepared to discuss in class.
Grading:
Grading is a pass or fail based on the requirements
above.
