How to enter data and find cell averages in Excel

 

1.      Just type what you want into each cell. Below is an example of a grade book.

 

2.      Suppose we want to find Elmer Dinkley’s average after 3 tests.

 

 

Note: rather than type each formula in, you may click the “function” key and find the formula from a list (see below).

 

 

 

3.      To get the average of the rest of the class, position the cursor on the bottom right corner of the cell (you’ll see a little box) it will turn to a cross. Now drag down. It will now copy the formula and paste it into the desired cells. You may use this technique for any of the formulas.
