Course Description:
Psychology 3020 introduces statistical concepts necessary for the study
of psychology. We will begin with a discussion of assigning
numbers to observations, and continue through descriptive and
inferential statistics, and ending with a discussion of correlation and
regression.
Course Requirements:
Students will be evaluated on the basis of four tests (see attached
course schedule for test dates), each worth 1/6 of the course grade,
and on the basis of weekly homework assignments that account for the
remaining 1/3 of the course grade. All the material, and thus all
the tests, will be cumulative. For example, you can expect
material covered on Test 2 to re-appear on Test 4. The homework
assignments will generally be given each Monday, and will be due the
following Monday. Most homework assignments will be completed and graded through the Aplia webpages. Several Additional SPSS assignments will be given, check the course web page for details.
Lectures will supplement textbook material, not merely cover it again. Thus, regular class attendance is expected.
Make-up Policy and Grading Policy:
If a student cannot take a test at the appropriate time, make-ups will
be given only if the student arranges with the instructor before the
test date. Late homework will be accepted up until the test
covering that material. Before that cut-off, late papers will
receive a 5% penalty for each day late.
Graduate Assistant
Jessica Stults will be assisting us in the lab and with homework assignments. You can contact her at jdstults@msn.com
