Innovative Curriculum Development Projects
STEPMT will provide funding to faculty to enable STEM departments to rework courses to include discovery-based learning, active learning techniques, or some other type of Innovative Curriculum Development Project.
The proposal must describe an innovative curriculum learning approach suitable
for the classroom or laboratory portion of introductory STEM courses for majors.
The proposed plan could involve implementation of best practices, adaptation,
materials development, evaluation, or dissemination. Preferred outcomes are
course materials that are transferable to another instructor or preliminary
work directed toward an external proposal to sustain the efforts. A faculty
member may earn up to $4,000 per project. Proposals will be considered beginning
January 4th, 2008 and continue while funding is available.
Proposals should include information regarding the course impacted and the number of students reached by the proposed innovation in the next year. Projected numbers for subsequent years as the innovation is rolled out to all sections of the course should also be included. Proposals must also provide a careful description of the time investment by the faculty member in the project and a list of other commitments during the time period for the project.
Proposals are to be submitted online at our secure website: https://collbas.mtsu.edu/stepmt/. First-time users of the system will be required to setup an account by using the "Create a New Account" link just above the login form. You will be required to enter some personal and demographic information. This process is automatic and self-explanatory. Once you are logged into the STEPMT database you may select the "Submit a Proposal" link in the "Curriculum Development..." section of the main menu. After you have entered your proposal, you may return at any time to review and/or edit the information.
