Course Description: This course is designed to assist you in making a smooth and successful transition to college life; to provide you with growth experiences both in the educational and personal realms; to introduce you to a variety of college survival skills (note-taking, test-taking, campus resources, campus services, etc.) as well as personal survival skills (goal setting, time management, self-awareness, effective communication skills, etc.); and to increase the probability of your success both during your college career and after graduation. The emphasis of the K sections is on exploring how to learn more efficiently and effectively and on developing and practicing skills necessary to be academically successful. The K sections of U1010 fulfill the Board of Reagents Learning Strategies requirement

Assignments and classroom activities count 2/10(20%) of your final grade. Assignments must be turned in on time. (See instructorÕs syllabus to determine if there is a policy for late assignments.) Daily quizzes cannot be made up. |

A unit test will be given at the completion of each unit to determine progress and proficiency. Each test will count 1/10(10%) of your final grade. There will be a ten-point deduction for any unit test not taken on time. Five additional points will be deducted for each class period. If you do not contact your instructor within one class of missing a test, you may not make up that test. |
