The Southern Festival of Books Teaching American History Symposiums are held annually in October at the Tennessee State Library and Archives in Nashville.

Participants have the opportunity to listen to readings and discussions from authors of books on a wide variety of historical topics. Participants receive each book to be covered at the symposium. In-service credit is also available to participants.

Review the 2003 Southern Festival of Books Teaching American History Symposium Brochure and Application to learn more. Charles Cerami, author of Jefferson’s Great Gamble: The Remarkable Story of Jefferson, Napoleon and the Men Behind the Louisiana Purchase and Louis Masur, author of 1831: Year of Eclipse were featured speakers.
