Welcome

Message from the President

Welcome to our website! As the 2011-2012 President of the Tennessee Conference of Graduate Schools (TCGS), it’s my honor to show you around. A few clicks from here will put you in touch with one of our approximately 40 member institutions across the state. Collectively, these institutions represent a serious economic interest that is continuing to expand. According to Arik (2010), graduate education and research accounts for nearly 17,000 jobs across Tennessee and produces approximately $1.67 billion in business revenues.

The impressive economic impact of graduate education is directly linked to the quality of service provided by our member institutions. If you are a student shopping for just the right graduate education fit, the range of program options in these fine graduate schools is staggering. You can choose almost any topic from Administration to Zoology and study that discipline at a large research-based public university or a small private religious-affiliated institution.

Our members believe that together we can solve mutual problems that increase the quality of the graduate experience at each of these institutions and promote our general welfare. If you are a non-member institution, please consider joining us. We strongly encourage you to add your voice to ours in an ongoing discussion of excellence in the graduate education experience. Our graduate candidates deserve it and the various publics we serve demand it. Based on our collective bottom line, we have acted responsibly.

If you have further questions about our organization or graduate education in Tennessee, please let us know or simply contact our nearest member institution in your area.

Peace and Joy,

Gary L. Riggins, Ed.D.
President
