Orientation
Orientation
is a 30 hour training program offered free to child care providers. There
are five types of orientation classes including:
- School Age
(6yrs-14yrs)
- Infant
Toddler (birth-3yrs)
- Family (caring
for up to 15 children)
- Center-Based
(2 1/2yrs-5yrs)
- Administrative

Orientation
Orientations
are offered in various counties in the evenings or on Saturdays. The
schedule is mailed out three times per year to child care programs.
The
Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) recognizes TECTA orientations
as a way to satisfy annual training hour requirements. Participants must
complete the 30 hours in order to receive a certificate. Participants who
have taken one type of orientation may take another type for DHS credit.
