The SHPO, a division of the Michigan Historical Center, provides limited information regarding historic architecture, national register properties, historic farms, and historic sites. The Michigan Historical Museum, also a division of the Center, offers a wide range of educational options for students and teachers.

BERRIEN COUNTY HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION
The 1839 Courthouse Complex includes Michigan's oldest courthouse, the 1870 Sheriff's house and 1860/1873 County Records and Office Buildings.  An outdoor interpretive plaza built on the site of the old county jail introduces visitors to the accommodations offered to the sheriff's guests. In addition to the restored courtroom, the 1839 Greek Revival Courthouse features county history exhibits and a museum store.  The blacksmith shop and 1830 two-story log house complete the site.   Hours: Tues-Fri 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM., Sat & Sun from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.  Admission is charged
