Web Assignments  

1.             Writing Lesson Plans

a.      Locate and List (with brief description of site) lesson-planning sites for your subject.

b.      Locate the Tennessee Department of Education website and view your subject area curriculum benchmarks for the state.

c.        Select the area that you will develop for the unit to be taught and target the objectives for your microteaching.  

d.      Download (you may only select one or two so just type and send) the goals and objectives for your unit. (You do not have to retype from the state department’s website)

e.        Turn in the goals and objectives for your unit and the lesson-plan sites you discovered with a brief description of each site (2 to 5 sites).

 

2.                Development of Microteaching - THIS WILL BE TAUGHT THE LAST FEW DAYS OF CLASS (check Calendar for dates)

a.                    Develop a 15 to 20 minute lesson around the objectives chosen from the State department website

b.                   You may use materials from the State Department of Education, MTSU’s Womack Curriculum Lib., and the Internet and other sources.

c.                    Follow the guidelines for evaluations given out in class.

d.                   Hand – in your Lesson plan for the microteaching (follow all components of lesson planning discussed in class, Introduction, Goals and Objectives, Procedures and Materials, Enrichments or Remediation, Summary, and Reflections)

e.                    Elements the Microteaching should have are Rationale and Overview, Planning, Teaching, Reflection.

 

3   Effective Teaching

 

a.       Watch and complete the hand out for  “The 7 Habits of Highly Ineffective Educators” video located in the LRC video/computer lab.   This video is a comic approach on effective teaching.   The actors will present how not to be an effective teacher and then they will list the proper approaches.  You have to pay attention or you will miss the effective techniques that the video suggests.

b.       Search the web for characteristics of an effective teacher and list them, remember to site websites used in the paper (you may reference the sites in the body of the paper or have a reference sited page)

c.       Compare the characteristics presented in the video and the characteristics that were presented in class with the information you gathered from your web search.

                        d.                        This assignment should be 2 to 3 pages with references to sites.      

 

 

4.                Classroom Management YOED 4000

a.      Do a web search on Barbara Coloroso.

b.    List sites and resources found concerning the noted classroom management lecturer. (2 to 3 sites)

c.      Watch the “Barbara Coloroso Winning at Teaching” video on reserve in the LRC.

d.    Listen for all the points listed on the handout and then add, on a separate sheet of paper, other important points that may not be noted on the handout.

e.      Hand-in the websites found with brief description of the content and the additional points of importance on the Coloroso video.

(Should be 1 to 2 typed pages in total)

 

4.                  Humor in the Classroom YOED 3050

a.      Read “Learning Through Laughter Again” Claudia Cornett (Handed out in class)

b.      Using the Internet, research ways to add humor in your classroom.  Site at least 2 websites giving 5 to 6 sentences in description about the site and how you would use the suggestions in your classroom.

c.      Write a 3 to 4 paragraph summary paper on the PDK FASTBACK “Learning Through Laughter Again” and how humor could effect student achievement.

(The entire assignment should be 2 to 3 pages in length)
