Dr. Gloria Bonner

February 2003 the chapter had noted educator Dr. Gloria Bonner, Dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Science at Middle Tennessee State University, to speak concerning No Child Late Behind.  The lecture and discussion was very informative.  The function was held at the MTSU’s Foundation House with 200 in attendance.

Dr. Claudia Cornett

Dr. Claudia Cornett, noted Humor in the Classroom author and lecturer, spoke on Campus in October 2002.  She discussed using humor in teaching.  Her presentation was made in the State Farm Lecture room attendance was 200.  The chapter added 11 new members during a brief initiation.  The PDK International Foundation paid for this lecture for Education.

Middle Tennessee Chapter’s initiation at the Tennessee Teachers Hall of Fame Banquet May 2002 was a success.  Nine new members were initiated into the chapter.  Dr. Kersey, Executive Director of Phi Delta Kappa International was present and installed the new slate of officers for 2001-2003.

Dr. George Thomas

Dr. George Thomas, Past President of Phi Delta Kappa International addressed the chapter February 11, 2002 concerning the 2000-2001 PDK Gallup Poll.  The presentation was well attended by 44 members, and interested educators. The PDK International Foundation for Education paid for this speaker.

 

Dr. George Kersey, Jr.

Dr. George Kersey, Jr., Executive Director of Phi Delta Kappa International, addressed the chapter in November 2001 concerning the mission of PDK in the new millennium and congratulated the chapter on reorganization.
