College Protocol/ Stones and Eagles

You may have first generation college students and adults learners that really need to know what is expected of them. No one would just show up for a new job and not expect some guidance in what is expected of them and yet many of our students just show up at MTSU. Their job is that of being a student. The goal of today, is to make sure they know what their duties are.

Activities from previous days

Ask one upper classman what they have learned that they wish they have known as a freshman.

Read pages 4-23 in The Confident Student

Work exercises selected in those pages

Using the analogy that being a student is your job, describe your responsibilities. You might want to include how you will get promotions, how you will get paid ,etc.

Interview several students or people who you know have attended college. What do they wish they had known before they began.

Discuss anything that might get in the way of your being successful and how you plan to deal with it.
