Questions to Ask Before an Exam.

A few strategically asked questions may also help you to predict what will be on a test. The more you know, the more efficient your study time can be. Often when an instructor announces a test or exam, we go into a panic mode and forget to ask important questions. Before an exam, you have an excellent opportunity to ask your instructor several important questions.

Here's a list of questions that would be good to ask before an exam. Choose the five that you think are most important and explain why it would be important to ask such a question.

1. How many questions will be on the test?

2. What types of questions will be on the test?

3. What material will be covered?

4. How much will the test count toward the final grade?

5. Will the questions come primarily from the notes or the text?

6. Will partial credit be awarded for some answers?

7. How much time will we have for the test?

8. Will there be any extra credit?

9. What materials will we be able to use? (Books, notes, calculators, dictionaries, etc.)

10. What outside material (handouts, readings etc.) will be included on the test?
