Research InformationI consider myself a zoologist (herpetologist) interested in behavioral and physiological ecology. One of my research goals is to use information on the temperature of animals to answer questions regarding their behavior, ecology, and physiology. In particular, I am interested in how body temperature influences the behavior, ecology, and embryonic development of ectotherms, particularly reptiles and spiders. About half of my projects are field oriented with the other half being lab projects. My research lab uses animal trapping, radio telemetry, biophysical modelling, oxygen and carbon dioxide analyzers, and racetracks. If anyone is interested in getting some research experience with reptiles or spiders, please contact me. We can consider current or new projects. I would consider thermal projects on a variety of organisms. For those interested in graduate study, please contact be before and applying. I am looking for a few good men and women; not slackers. In addition to snake ecology students, I am currently looking for a student with an interest in studying the behavioral ecology of a local spider species. Specific topics are thermal biology, locomotor function, and reproduction. Please contact me if you are interested.
