Library Development

These are exciting times at MTSU! With dramatic growth in enrollment, facilities, and programs, we are challenged to meet the needs of our students, faculty, and researchers. Our supporters are part of an important educational partnership. There are many ways our friends can help the library.

The Environment

MTSU has grown tremendously in size and quality over the last few years. Private support has been an important part of this growth. Research and learning require excellent library resources. In order to purchase books and periodicals, gain access to print and electronic indexes, and build the partnerships necessary for first-rate library service, we must rely on help from university alumni and friends. Private support is now an essential element of our goal of expanding excellence at MTSU.

The Challenge

Information is expanding rapidly. Price increases for library materials far exceed the general rate of inflation. Continual investments in technology are necessary to access new forms of information. At the same time, we must deal with the preservation of materials for future generations. The MTSU Library has worked to seek solutions to these challenges by purchasing materials in new formats, developing innovative methods of managing information, and promoting cooperative sharing of resources.

The Importance Of Our Development Program

The library must ensure that it can meet the growing need for information and research materials, support the technological investment necessary to access information, and build the partnerships required for supporting educational growth. Private support is especially important in achieving this goal.
