Information for students:
Research Participation:
The last day to participate in research is Monday, November 30, 2009. Please note that people under the age of 18 may not participate in research.

You will need to be able to access your MTSU email account to use the research pool.  If you are having trouble accessing your email account, call the OIT Help Desk at 898-5345.

Please be courteous when participating in research.  Silence all cell phones prior to the beginning of the research, do not take calls during the research session, and try not to disturb other students during a research session.

The research pool server is located at:  http://mtsu.sona-systems.com/.  Instructions for using the system can be downloaded as a Word document or a pdf file (these are longer versions of the Getting Started with the MTSU Experiment Sign-Up System in your text).

Please note:
Written Reports:
The last day to turn in a written report is Monday, November 30, 2009 (by 4:00 PM) even if the class does not meet on Mondays.  Written reports should be given to your instructor.  Written reports must be typed on the written report form.  You may download the Written Report form as a Word document.

Written report articles are on reserve in the library.

You may use the library’s e-reserve system to locate written report articles. Go to the library’s page at http://library.mtsu.edu/. From the "Research Gateway" tab on the upper left side, choose "Find Course Reserves." Three drop-down menus will be on the screen. Choose “Psychology All Instructors” from the instructors list, choose “PSYC:Psychology” from the department list, and choose “1410: All” from the course list. Click the “Search” button. A list of materials will appear. Clicking the number beside an article will bring you to its page. Click the link for “Click here to launch e-reserve” and the article will appear. You will need to type the password "psyc1410" to read the article.

Information for researchers:

The last day to collect data is Monday, November 30, 2009.

Report problems to the research pool director (shortages of forms, cards, etc.).

There are two parts to the instructions for researchers: MTSU Psychology department policy and guidance on setting up experiments in the research pool system.  ALL researchers MUST abide by the policy. It is your responsibility to read the policy and pay attention to the rules.  You may download the instructions as a Word document or a pdf file.

Request accounts from the research pool director.  Who should request an account?
To request an account,
Visit http://frank.mtsu.edu/~irb/ for IRB forms and instructions.

The IRB form requires sign-up information (to approve the language you will use to solicit participants).  Please include the following information with your IRB application:
Once you have IRB approval for the sign-up language, you can copy that information into the experiment description used by the system.

Information for instructors:

The last day to participate in research is Monday, November 30, 2009.  The last time to turn in written reports to be graded by the pool GA is Monday, November 30, 2009 (4:00 PM) regardless of the class meeting days/times.
