Profile
The Stones River Chamber Players perform virtuoso music that is visceral, evocative, and exciting . . . unlike any small chamber ensemble you’ve heard. Their concert programs are accessible for both the discerning classical concert aficionado, and for young people new to classical concerts. The standard touring ensemble of guitar, flute, violin, and clarinet performs a diversity of contemporary and standard works for a variety of instrumental combinations. As an option, the addition of piano and oboe or saxophone adds even more variety. Concert programs are unique and often offer a different combination of players for each work.

The SRCP bring exciting new repertoire and standard masterworks to the concert stage. Repertoire is sometimes unfamiliar but totally appealing to all, drawing influences from Folk and World music. Ranging from the Beethovenesque ‘Trio’ by Joseph Kreutzer, to the Latin-inspired Concierto de Samba by Klaus Wusthoff, music that transcends the boundaries of traditional ensembles and is guaranteed to have something for everyone. The SRCP has commissioned and premiered several new works and arrangements written specifically for the ensemble.

The ensemble consists primarily of music faculty from Middle Tennessee State University - virtuoso Doctoral grads and award winning soloists from some of the finest music schools in America - Eastman, Indiana University, and Florida State. As both performers and educators, the SRCP are ideally suited for educational outreach programs, workshops, and masterclasses.

During their 19 year history, the SRCP has performed at high profile venues across the U.S. and Europe. Two recent European tours that included travels to France, Germany, and Switzerland elicited rave reviews. The SRCP has performed at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival, the National Flute Association Festival, the Guitar Foundation of America International Festival, in addition to concert series events at museums and universities across America.
